Mindfulness in Nature

A Three-Day Silent Mindfulness Retreat

April 30th – May 3rd 2026

Barbara Hussong and Chantek Mary McNeilage

We are offering this opportunity for those of you who have a mindfulness or a contemplative meditation practice to refresh and deepen your experience in a residential retreat setting.

When:  Thursday April 30th - Sunday May 3rd 2026.

Arrival from 4:00 pm with supper at 6:00 pm - Sunday ending after lunch

Where: Franciscan Centre Ladywell, Ashstead Lane, Godalming, GU7 1ST

Accommodation and Location:

The retreat will take place at the Ladywell Retreat and Spirituality Centre run by Franciscan nuns, a peaceful and welcoming oasis situated in lovely grounds on the outskirts of Godalming, Surrey. The food is vegetarian with vegan, gluten free and lactose-free options and the accommodation is in single rooms with ensuite. The Centre is a 5-minute journey by taxi from Godalming Station, which is 45 minutes from London on the Waterloo/Portsmouth line. https://franciscancentre.org.uk/

Fee:  £520 (including teaching, accommodation, meals and refreshments and covering Ladywell’s increase); some concessions are available.

The Retreat:

Beginning with our first evening session we will explore together what is at the heart of our own understanding and relationship to nature. Together we will open to exploring our joys and our resistances and what preoccupations and challenges hinder us.

Over the following days we will explore various forms of practice together. Some will be guided and include movements, but most of the practices will be silent sitting with walking meditations both inside and outside. When we settle into this rhythm of silent practice and are supported by the stillness, we can then allow ourselves to listen deeply and ‘be with’ whatever arises. This way we get in touch with our innate wisdom and connect to our heartfulness, which allows a kind and compassionate attitude within ourselves and gives us a fuller sense of connection with our environment.

The retreat leaders will offer talks and individual meetings to support your practice and inner inquiry. On Sunday we will end the silence and have the opportunity to share our experiences with each other.

We look forward to being together with you on this retreat, to go deeper into the heart of our practice, to relax and trust whatever emerges.

Please contact me here to receive more details and the application form.

Mindfulness Supervision and Mentoring

Mindfulness Practice Days

 Mindfulness and Earth Awareness

Saturday 11th October 2025, 10am – 4:00pm

with Barbara Hussong

This is an opportunity to engage with and deepen our Mindfulness practice and raise awareness towards our environment as we open to the pleasure of experiencing the beauty of nature.  We will be exploring this theme throughout the day with formal, guided meditation, informal Mindfulness practice, walking meditation, inquiry and dialogue.

How do we integrate our Mindfulness practice into our everyday life, full of the challenges of climate change and sustainability? How can we foster a way of being present in body and mind in the midst of these challenges? Rather than resisting and turning away, can we appreciate each moment and find a way of relating with care and compassion towards the environment and others? Can we open to appreciation and joy as well and can we enter into the space full of new possibilities, connecting us to the people around us in our life?

Large parts of the day, including the lunch break, will be in silence in order to be able to focus on our experience from moment-to-moment. In the afternoon there will be an opportunity to have a private conversation with me about your Mindfulness practice and any related questions you might want to bring up.

When:             11th October 2025, 10am – 4:00pm

Where:           26 Milford Close, Maidstone, ME16 0EY

Fee:                 early bird until 20th August: £55 (concs. available), thereafter: £60

To book:         Please contact me here to receive more details and the application form.

Compassionate Living Days

2025 Dates to be announced

10 am - 4 pm

to be held as a hybrid session in Maidstone ME16 or online via Zoom

This will be an opportunity to come together and practise the exercises of the MINDFULNESS-BASED COMPASSIONATE LIVING course that you have done in the past.

As we have been living with enormous challenges, compassion for ourselves and for others is a sane response to many pressures we are facing and this approach needs sustained and regular practice.

Much of this practice day will be in silence and at the end there is the space to share your experience.

We will take regular breaks from the screen for refreshments and lunch and include walking and movement practices.

The fee for the day is £60 for early applications, thereafter the fee is £65.

If you have any further questions about the technical side, regarding the suitability for you at this time, or wish to join please contact me here
